The San Diego Padres are a Major League Baseball team based in San Diego, California. They play in the National League Western Division. Founded in 1969, the Padres have won the National League Pennant twice, in 1984 and 1998, losing in the World Series both times. The Padres are one of four teams to never have a pitcher toss a no-hit game, and are one of just two teams to have never had a player hit for the cycle. The Padres adopted their name from the Pacific Coast League team which arrived in San Diego in 1936.
