The Pittsburgh Pirates are a Major League Baseball club based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They play in the Central Division of the National League, and are five-time World Series Champions, in addition to the distinction of playing in the first modern World Series. The Pirates are also often referred to as the Bucs or sometimes the Buccos (derived from buccaneer). Professional baseball has been played in the Pittsburgh area since 1876. The teams of the era were "independents", barnstorming throughout the region and not affiliated with any organized league, though they did have salaries and were run as a business organization. In 1882 the strongest team in the area joined the American Association as a founding member.

Something weird happened yesterday.  Since last season I’ve seen this idiotic refrain screamed loudly by the “smart” fans and bloggers, “I’d rather retaliate by winning the game”.  As if those two things couldn&#...

How important is pitching in baseball? I don’t know, how important are the tires on your car? Pitchers and tires share so much in common. Both can make their total package look pristine. Both instrumental in carrying loads from point a to point...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – Game 69

Brandon Cumpton kept the Pirates in the game, that’s all he needed to do.  The Pirates just didn’t have the ball bounce their way.  A great catch, a misplayed ball by Alex Presley, one more bobble with a man at third and this game is ve...

Trey Hillman was given the reigns to the Dodgers on Friday night, as Don Mattingly was serving his one-game suspension.  Hillman was able to pencil in Yasiel Puig leading off, Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez in the 3-4 spots, and A.J. Ellis b...

Yankees: Team has no muscle literally

By: Lady Loves Pinstripes

I hate harping on the past, especially when the situation cannot be changed, but there is always an exception. For example if you had zero input in a decision, opposed it completely and find out you were right. Like during this past off-season, when...

Word is that Brandon Cumpton will make his major league debut tomorrow.  I’m not sure who won the race for that hashtag but we’re giving credit to The Angry Fan credit. It’s certainly the best and surely what I’ll be using on...
