Marcus Terrell Thornton (born June 5, 1987 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA. He played collegiately at Louisiana State University (LSU) where he was elected the Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year in 2009. He is a first cousin of Los Angeles Clippers player Al Thornton. Thornton was the 43rd pick by the Miami Heat at the 2009 NBA Draft, but his rights were traded to the New Orleans Hornets. He averaged 27 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a high school senior.
