James Howard "Jim" Thome (pronounced /ˈtoʊmeɪ/; born August 27, 1970 in Peoria, Illinois) is an American Major League Baseball designated hitter who is a free agent. Thome was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 1989 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1991 as a third baseman against the Minnesota Twins.
