Your ticket to the latest Eric Hosmer News & Rumors
Eric John Hosmer (born October 24, 1989, in Miami, Florida) is an American professional baseball first baseman with the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). A highly touted prospect coming out of American Heritage High School in Florida, Hosmer was described as an "left-handed hitter with raw power" by scouts. He was drafted as the third overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, where he received a $6 million signing bonus. He advanced relatively quickly in minor league baseball, before making his MLB debut on May 5, 2011 against the Oakland Athletics. He finished third in the Rookie of the Year ballot last season after hitting .293 with 19 home runs in 128 games. Hosmer was born in Miami, Florida. He was the son of a Fort Lauderdale firefighter.
The Royals have won 13 games in the 18 since George Brett was brought in as the hitting coach. The knee jerk reaction is that Brett, a Hall of Famer and the best third baseman ever (if you allow my bias to creep in) turned the sluggish Royals offense...
The Royals dropped their fourth game in a row tonight, to the Houston Astros no less, to run their season record to 20-21. Tomorrow’s game makes it the 42 game mark, which is an important date in Dayton Moore trivia, because he has never been gener...
After seeing Mike Trout and Bryce Harper burst onto the baseball scene and make it their personal playground, the path of Bubba Starling has been disappointing to this point. That’s an unfair comparison, of course. Trout and Harper look like ge...
For all the talk of Ned Yost tinkering with lineups, and yeah…when you score 11 runs one night, you might want to just go ahead and stick with that…some of the blame has to be placed squarely on the shoulders of Dayton Moore. When will we have a...
There was a lot of concern about how the Royals would handle a tough road trip. So they went out and won four out of seven games. Take away one misplaced Kelvin Herrera pitch to Daniel Nava and a 5-2 trip could have been the result. They ended a 10 g...
There shouldn’t be much to complain about this year. The Royals are 10-8 right now and sitting in first place. They actually look like a pretty good team. But . . .What about those young bats? The Royals shipped super prospect Wil Myers and his bat...
The Royals batting order is currently suffering from the worst sports related power outage since the Super Bowl. They sit at 8-6 after winning behind the starting pitching in Atlanta, but as of Thursday morning’s team stats (according to Baseba...
The beginning of the season for Eric Hosmer has not been amazing due to a lack of power, but he is doing one thing extremely well, and that is getting on base. Due to this, I went over to Baseball Heat Maps to see how his pitch selection has change...
The Royals offense was 20th in runs scored last year, and in the American League they were 10th out of the then 14 teams (Houston as an AL team will take a little time to get used to). There are many reasons to believe the offense will be better th...
The Royals were busy trimming the roster and the latest Kansas City Baseball Vault discussed any surprises or disappointments in the cuts as well as what it means for the roster and any position battles going on. Along with that, we talked about the...
It’s starting to hit that point of spring training where the excitement of pitchers and catchers reporting has dwindled and the season is still far on the horizon. Spring training games turn into mere teases of what the regular season might bri...
With the arrival of the World Baseball Classic this past week, I have to admit, I was excited. Baseball fans finally had real baseball to watch, that actually mattered from a win-loss perspective. The Royals were sending a few players to the spring f...
