Derek Christopher Lowe (born June 1, 1973, in Dearborn, Michigan) is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. He throws and bats right-handed. Lowe attended Edsel Ford High School (Dearborn, Michigan) and was a four-sport letterman in baseball, golf, soccer, and basketball. He was an All-League honoree in all four sports, and was a first-team all-state pick in basketball. Lowe was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in round 8 of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with the Mariners on June 7, 1991.
